A little history
Created in 1954, this annual event takes place in March in the prestigious Salle des Etoiles at the Sporting Monte-Carlo. Since 1964, at the instigation of Princess Grace of Monaco and following the creation of the Princess Grace Foundation, the Bal de la Rose has become a charity event.
This social gathering brings together international high society for an exceptional event. For one evening, it illuminates the Principality with light and splendour, immersing it in a glittering, festive atmosphere.
The Bal de la Rose is a symbol of glamour and maintains the fascinating legend of Monte-Carlo, which it helped to create. Its aura is such that it attracts many anonymous visitors who want to experience the dream and enchantment of Monaco at first hand.
Between tradition and modernity
A dazzling spectacle in a fabulous setting, the Bal de la Rose has a different theme each year, represented by artists and innovative trends. Big names such as Karl Lagerfeld and, more recently, Christian Louboutin, take charge of the artistic organisation of the evening, choosing the theme (Havana, the Viennese Secession, Manhattan or the Roaring Twenties), the floral decorations and even the dinner, always with the approval of HRH The Princess of Monaco.H.R.H. The Princess of Hanover, giving life to the glamour that is hers, inviting everyone into an almost surreal dimension.
From glamour to generosity
The Ball was not, however, a simple social gathering, intended solely for the pleasures of partying. Above all, it is an international charity event, with all proceeds from raffles and other exceptional prizes (sculptures, paintings, etc.) going to the Princess Grace Foundation since 1964. The Foundation's mission is to help people in difficulty and disadvantaged children, by developing humanitarian and philanthropic initiatives.
