Monaco Energy Boat Challenge

Energy, Talent and AI at the heart of Monaco

The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2025 is distinguished by the wealth of exchanges between students and yachting professionals, offering invaluable opportunities for mentoring, knowledge sharing and networking, all of which are essential for innovation and research.

This edition marks a turning point with the official integration of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing together more than 50 teams from 25 nations and 40 universities, including prestigious institutions such as the Politecnico di Milano, TU Delft and the University of Cambridge, the event embodies a truly multicultural and international platform. A popular success, it revives the Principality 's historic enthusiasm for visionary nautical competitions.

Towards self-sufficiency at sea

In 2025, artificial intelligence will be a key lever , enabling teams to integrate it into their projects.

It will play a crucial role in decarbonising and digitising naval operations and developing the autonomy of boats. A new class, the IA class, will be dedicated to fully autonomous ships, paving the way for major technological advances.

Exploring tomorrow's projects

Located in the Marina du Yacht Club de Monaco, the SeaLab is a space dedicated to innovation where avant-garde projects, prototypes and demonstrators are presented. It showcases advanced propulsion technologies such as solar energy and hydrogen, as well as innovative materials.

In addition, the YCM's E-Dock, developed in partnership with Aqua superPower, offers AC and DC charging points, guaranteeing fast and reliable recharging for electric units.

The 5 Bay Challenges

Five exciting races make up a varied programme, including nautical events such as handling tests, sea trials, speed records , endurance races and slaloms, all in a festive and friendly atmosphere.

These competitions can be followed from the Lucciana jetty and the quays of the Monaco Yacht Club.

Monaco, pioneer of green sailing

The Yacht Club de Monaco (Y.C.M.) is putting into practice the vision of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, for whom "proof must replace promises", by deploying an ambitious and innovative environmental strategy.

At the heart of this approach, the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge stands out as a laboratory for maritime innovation. This unique competition combines the exploration of alternative propulsion systems with research into naval design and architecture. It is part of a wider dynamic, illustrated in particular by the SEA Index®, a reference tool for assessing the carbon footprint of ships.

A meeting place for pioneers

Monaco has established itself as the international crossroads for sustainable maritime innovation, bringing together prestigious shipbuilders such as Azimut-Benetti, Sanlorenzo, Ferretti Group, Lürssen, Monaco Marine and visionary experts.

The event combines knowledge sharing, through daily Tech Talks and the Hydrogen Round Table featuring over 40 speakers, with talent development via the Corporate Mentoring Programme and a dynamic Job Forum. This unique synergy makes the Principality the epicentre of innovative, forward-looking yachting.
