The Monte-Carlo ATP Masters 1000, known as the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, kicks off the European leg of the clay-court season every year. It is part of the ATP Masters 1000 series, which comprises the nine most important tournaments on the men’s circuit after the four Grand Slam events.
For nine days, the world’s tennis stars gather in a unique setting, amidst ochre-coloured clay courts, the rolling hills of the Riviera and views of the Mediterranean.
The schedule for the 2027 Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters
The tournament will begin on Saturday 3 April 2027 with the first qualifying matches.
The main highlights will then take place according to the following schedule:
- Friday 9 April: quarter-finals
- Saturday 10 April: singles and doubles semi-finals
- Sunday 11 April: doubles final at 12 noon and singles final at 3 pm
Timetables are subject to change depending on the duration of matches and weather conditions.
Jannik Sinner, 2026 champion
At the 2026 tournament, Jannik Sinner won his first Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final 7-6, 6-3.
The Italian wrapped up the match in two hours and fifteen minutes, securing his first major title on clay in the process. He succeeded Carlos Alcaraz, winner of the 2025 tournament.
Rafael Nadal, the undisputed master of Monte-Carlo
Many champions have added their names to the tournament’s roll of honour, including Björn Borg, Ilie Năstase, Thomas Muster, Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
But no player has left such a mark on the tournament’s history as Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard has won the trophy eleven times, including eight consecutive titles between 2005 and 2012.
This exceptional record is a testament to Rafael Nadal’s dominance on the Monegasque clay courts and to the special place the tournament holds in his career.

A history dating back to 1897
The tournament’s history dates back to 1897, when the first Monegasque tennis competition was organised under the name Monte-Carlo Tennis Championship.
Originally held near the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, the tournament changed venues several times before the Monte-Carlo Country Club was opened in 1928. Set high above the Mediterranean, the new club provided a setting worthy of the champions it hosted.
More than a century after its inception, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is regarded as the world’s oldest clay-court tournament. It remains one of the most prestigious events on Monaco’s sporting calendar.
