Visit Monaco: a truly MICE destination!
" The Principality of Monaco is a major business tourism destination, offering all the advantages of a destination on a human scale ": Christine Barrabino, Head of the Monaco Convention Bureau, sums up the dynamic that drives the destination. Far from the clichés that would reduce the principality to an unchanging postcard - however elegant - Monaco is constantly reinventing itself to keep its standards at the highest level. And contrary to the stereotypes that would confine Monaco's MICE to the luxury segment, investment is extending to all ranges of clientele and all budgets.
The most spectacular symbol of Monegasque emulation this year is the extension of the Grimaldi Forum, inaugurated in mid-January to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the convention centre. The extension has given the Principality's convention centre an additional 6,000 m² of modular indoor and outdoor space. This will enable the destination to think even bigger when it comes to events, and to combine several events simultaneously. All this with international accessibility guaranteed by Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport, just 25 minutes from the Principality, with over 122 destinations served by direct flights.
In the run-up to the inauguration in January 2025, all those involved in Monaco's MICE sector are working and investing to maintain standards worthy of the destination. Many new venues and concepts have already opened or will do so shortly, and renovation plans are being finalised for those that have not yet been completed.
70,000 m² dedicated to events
Monaco now offers professionals more than 150 venues, totalling almost 70,000 m², dedicated to the organisation of events. The destination stands out for its collective drive to serve the region, with the Monaco Convention Bureau at the helm. Its mission: to mobilise, centralise and provide support to help Monaco shine on the international stage. Christine Barrabino sums it up: " The Monaco Convention Bureau is the point of entry, the facilitator for organisers who, without needing to seek information from the various hotel operators, the Grimaldi Forum or the agencies, can rely on our expertise and our help to find the answers to their needs. We can react quickly and efficiently to support the organiser right up to the event and beyond, working hand in hand with all our partners ".
The mobilisation of partners around the Monaco Convention Bureau testifies to the importance of its role, and the responsiveness it instils within this ecosystem. And if that wasn't enough, the prize for Best Convention Bureau awarded last June at the Micebook Awards 2025, and the Gold Award in the Best Overseas Convention Bureau category last September - the 3rd in a row at the M&IT Awards - attest to this effectiveness. The Principality of Monaco's professionalism was also recognised with the title of European Best Destination 2025.
As for "customer returns" - a concept that lives up to its name here - the loyalty of major events rewards the efforts of the Convention Bureau. In fact, recurring events represent a solid foundation for Monaco's business tourism sector. This loyalty can be explained in particular by the personalised welcome offered to events organised in Monaco. While a MICE operation can often go unnoticed in a "classic" destination, Monaco has no hesitation in dressing up in the colours of an event to enhance it, bring it to life and make it shine.
The impact of these operations is all the more memorable in a destination on a human scale (2.08km²), where participants can walk from one site to another in complete safety. This is a unique example of a destination on a human scale, which is more conducive to soft mobility than any other. This is all the more true given that Monaco intends to play a leading role in the field of CSR, and has long been committed to environmental issues, under the impetus of H.S.H. Prince Albert II since his accession to the throne in 2005. The Convention Bureau has created a guide for organisers looking for ways to limit and reduce the impact of their events. A "Carbon Calculator" has also been developed to help organisers measure the impact of their event. The Monaco Convention Bureau website compiles all the useful information and practical tools for event organisers. Performance, elegance and commitment: a philosophy that more than ever makes Monaco a destination "Like Nowhere Else".
