MeeT and TRaVeL MaG – Monaco: the never-ending event

There’s always something going on in Monaco!

Throughout the year, sporting, cultural and, of course, business events follow one another at a frenetic pace in the Principality, and 2025 looks set to be a very promising year. Not a day goes by without a conference, festival, sporting competition or trade fair taking place in this compact destination, covering just over 2 km², where it is easy to get around on foot or by public transport whilst enjoying a safe environment.

Investing to make events happen

A leading centre for business tourism on the international stage, Monaco is constantly enhancing its accommodation and meeting facilities, making them ever more efficient – as exemplified by the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, which, thanks to a 6,000 m² extension, has just gained 50 per cent more space, making it easier to host several major events simultaneously, complemented by 2,000 m² of outdoor space allowing visitors to enjoy the Mediterranean climate. This extension will benefit all stakeholders in the MICE sector within the Principality. In recent years, hoteliers have stepped up renovation programmes for their establishments, thereby offering their guests a high standard of service. Recently, numerous event venues and restaurants have enriched the Principality’s offering, such as Moods, a legendary local nightlife venue situated beneath the Casino, which has just been rebranded as New Moods (seminars and private events for up to 120 seated guests, 200 for a cocktail reception), as well as the Marlow, the SBM’s new quintessentially British restaurant overlooking the sea in the new Mareterra district (a 300 m² dining room plus a 100 m² terrace). In a few weeks’ time, the Monaco Government Tourism and Convention Authority will launch its new, completely redesigned website. Among other things, this will offer event organisers the option of using a ‘Venue Finder’ module to assist them in their search for venues to host their projects in the Principality of Monaco.

A model for CSR

Monaco and CSR go back a long way; this is the story of a territory which, from very early on – driven by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince and with the support of all its partners – prioritised sustainable tourism with the aim of achieving total carbon neutrality by 2050. To support industry professionals, the CSR unit of the Monaco Government Tourism and Convention Authority has produced the Responsible Organiser’s Guide, which suggests practical solutions for reducing an event’s carbon footprint, and the Carbon Calculator, enabling real-time assessment, both of which are available online on the Monaco Convention Bureau’s website. As evidence of the Principality’s commitment, over 80 per cent of the 2,500 rooms on the Rock are Green Globe and Green Key certified.
