BALANCE SHEET - The Principality of Monaco: between excellence, sustainability and innovation

While this city-state, renowned for its security, attracts hundreds of thousands of travellers every year, it is also a key venue for business events.

Numerous advantages for business tourism

Monaco enjoys exceptional accessibility thanks to its strategic position at the heart of Europe.

Nice-Côte d'Azur International Airport, located less than 30km from the Principality, serves 122 destinations, including Geneva (50-minute flight), Zurich (1h10 flight) and Basel (1h15 flight). Monaco is easy to reach by train, bus (regular service), taxi or helicopter.

With 2,500 hotel rooms (over 80% of which have the Monaco Quality Label), historic and emblematic establishments, boutique hotels and large-capacity facilities, the Principality guarantees a premium quality welcome.

Its Mediterranean climate and 300 days of sunshine a year are real assets, enabling Monaco to host cultural and professional events all year round.

A destination designed for events

Monaco offers a wide range of facilities and atypical venues, with more than 150 meeting and reception areas spread over an area of 2.08 km².

With over 70,000 m² of dedicated event space, the Principality of Monaco offers organisers of large-scale events all the solutions they could wish for.

Its convention centre, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, located just a few minutes' walk from the destination's top hotels, celebrated its 25th anniversary in January 2025. With the inauguration of its extension at the beginning of the year, it now boasts 41,000 m² of modular space and can accommodate up to 6,000 people a day. Internationally recognised by professionals in the sector, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco is the ideal setting to offer cultural and professional events a strong and unique identity. It has been ISO 14001 certified since 2008 and ISO 20121 certified since November 2023.

A "tailor-made" offer

Monaco is a unique business destination, designed to meet the needs of every client, whether it's a board meeting for 15 people or an international conference with 5,000 participants.

Imagine organising a trade show in the Espace Fontvieille Big Top, which hosts the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival every January, a gala dinner at the Oceanographic Museum, which is reserved exclusively for your guests, or a cocktail party amidst the exceptional vehicles in the Collection of Cars of H.S.H. the Prince of Monaco.

The Monaco Convention Bureau, a department of the Principality of Monaco's Monaco Government Tourist and Convention Authority, offers its expertise and know-how to event organisers to ensure a tailor-made experience that perfectly meets their needs. Its team is on hand to help them prepare their event, in collaboration with all those involved in the destination, to ensure the success of every project.

To discover the full range of MICE on offer, the Monaco Convention Bureau has designed the Destination Monaco Guide, available on the VisitMonaco website.

A visionary and committed country

With its many centres of expertise, including scientific research, medicine, finance and new technologies, Monaco is also an attractive business destination, home to almost 5,000 companies and start-ups. At the end of 2024, the country had almost 66,000 employees (public and private sectors combined).

Monaco cannot be mentioned without mentioning its strong environmental policy. Since the accession of Prince Albert II in 2005, the Government of Monaco and the entire population have been united around social issues and sustainability. The country has set itself the ambitious target of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 (compared with 1990) and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Aware of the impact of tourism on the environment, the Principality of Monaco is committed to acting in favour of sustainable development and is multiplying its initiatives to achieve this. With a human-sized territory where it is easy to get around on foot, the city-state offers a wide range of soft mobility solutions. Finally, to help professionals who are keen to reduce the impact of their event, the Tourism Department has developed two digital tools, which can also be accessed from the VisitMonaco website: the Responsible Organiser's Guide, which provides solutions for a more sustainable approach, and a Carbon Calculator, an educational tool for estimating one's environmental footprint.

In addition to its Premium positioning, its operational excellence and its acute sense of hospitality, Monaco offers each and every one of its visitors the chance to experience unforgettable moments. It constantly renews its offering, guaranteeing top-of-the-range services and unique, memorable experiences. Its expertise is recognised worldwide, and it's no coincidence that the Principality of Monaco has been voted best European destination in 2025 by the European Best Destinations website.
