Mareterra, Monaco's new eco-district

It's not every day that a country increases its surface area by around 3%... Conceived as an extension of the existing coastline stretching from the Grimaldi Forum to the Formula 1 Grand Prix tunnel, Mareterra will transform the Principality with an additional six hectares.

To celebrate the opening of this extraordinary project, ecologically responsible shows lit up the sky on 4 December, including concerts, drone shows and pyrotechnic performances.

Since 5 December, the public has had the pleasure of discovering these new spaces, underlining the scale and uniqueness of Mareterra. The main attractions include a seafront Promenade Prince Jacques with a unique mineral atmosphere, a blue grotto where curious visitors can discover the heart of the project, a relaxation area for meditation, green spaces, villas and apartment blocks, and the Quai du Petit Portier with its marina.

Living spaces to which some of the world's most renowned architects have contributed, including Renzo Piano, Tadao Ando and Lord Norman Foster. Interviewed by the Financial Timesthe Sovereign expressed his satisfaction and emphasised the eco-responsible nature of this unique project: "Mareterra embodies the call of our time for a renewed harmony between humanity and nature. It is an initiative that reflects Monaco's enduring commitment to preserving the unique beauty and biodiversity of the Mediterranean while meeting the needs of a modern and sustainable principality."
