The events sector is by its very nature a creator of ephemeral projects. This type of event requires extensive logistics and a lot of equipment for a very limited period, and the business tourism sector is therefore often seen as a less than virtuous economic development tool.
The Principality of Monaco has decided to do everything in its power to ensure that tourism is actively involved in the process of reducing its carbon footprint, as the country aims to be carbon neutral by 2050.
To help organisers adopt a more rational approach, the Monaco Tourism and Convention Authority has created a digital guide, available in French and English. As the impact of an event needs to be thought through well in advance, this tool will enable professionals to identify the areas that emit the most greenhouse gases, and to consider ways of limiting the impact of the event and adopting a more responsible approach.
