Travelling to Monaco by plane
Nice Airport: Monaco’s gateway by air
The main airport near Monaco is Nice-Côte d’Azur International Airport. With two runways, this airport operates around a hundred domestic and international routes and handles regular helicopter services, not to mention a significant number of private aviation flights.
The airport comprises two terminals, linked by the tram and shuttle buses from the various car parks. Around twenty return flights connect Nice-Côte d’Azur with Paris, and regular services operate year-round to and from major European cities (London, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid and Stockholm) and the Gulf (Dubai and Doha). In summer, there are even more destinations, with flights from New York, Washington, Montreal, Rabat, Algiers, Tunis and Dakar.
A third terminal is dedicated to business aviation.
Travelling to Monaco from Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport
To reach Monaco upon arrival at Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport, travellers can use the bus, taxi, train or helicopter.
The regular ‘Zou!’ shuttle buses run on average every 30 minutes from 7.00 am to 9.00 pm (from 4.30 am on Tuesdays to Sundays from Monaco), run between Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport and various areas of Monaco (Villa Paloma, Monaco SNCF railway station, the Tourist Office, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, Larvotto) via route 80 of the regional bus network.
Taxis are also available to cover the 30-kilometre journey by road between Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport and Monaco. They can be found at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.
The airport has a direct link to Nice Saint-Augustin railway station, from where travellers can reach Monaco Monte-Carlo railway station.
Tram lines 2 and B provide a free service between Terminal 2, Terminal 1 and Grand-Arénas station, a short walk from the SNCF railway station.
Less than 500 metres away, a dedicated pedestrian path allows you to reach the station in 7 minutes from Terminal 1.
Finally, for very quick transfers between Nice-Côte d’Azur International Airport and Monaco Heliport, several operators (Héli Air Monaco, Monacair/Blade) offer helicopter flights to the west of Monaco in just 7 minutes – an option particularly worth considering when traffic is heavy on the A8 motorway.
Three business terminals
There are two other airports near Monaco. Cannes-Mandelieu International Airport, some 60 kilometres from the Principality, is dedicated exclusively to business aviation. Located approximately 120 kilometres from the centre of the Principality, Golfe de Saint-Tropez Airport hosts a few seasonal routes and numerous private flights. Including the terminal at Nice Airport specialising in business flights, there are therefore three facilities dedicated to this type of transport on the Côte d’Azur
