Coming to Monaco via the road network

The Principality of Monaco is easily accessible via its land borders. Using the motorway system, it is possible to cover the 22 kilometres from Nice Airport to the Principality of Monaco in under 30 minutes.

Monaco is connected to France by national roads and by the motorway network. From the Monaco exit, you can reach the city centre in just 20 minutes.
-Exit 56 for Monaco if travelling from France towards Italy
-Exit 58  for Roquebrune Cap Martin if travelling from Italy towards France

If you prefer to take full advantage of the landscape, you can travel via three very scenic routes: the Basse Corniche road which hugs the coastline, the Moyenne Corniche road via Eze-Village, or the Grande Corniche road through La Turbie and Col d’Eze, at an altitude of 512 metres.

Access to Monaco-Ville is restricted to those whose vehicles are registered in Monaco or the Alpes Maritimes region. In the case of the new French number plates, only those vehicles bearing the Alpes Maritimes regional identifier, whose owners can prove that they live in the region, will be allowed to access Monaco-Ville. Other vehicles will need to park in the Parking des Pêcheurs car park, from which the centre of Monaco-Ville is just a few minutes’ walk.

Although campervans are permitted to enter the Principality, this is not a mode of transport which is particularly well suited to the country. Parking on the public highway is strictly prohibited. Only the Parking des Ecoles car park in Fontvieille and the Parking des Pêcheurs car park in Monaco-Ville can accommodate such vehicles. You are advised to contact the relevant car park office to check availability.
