The Principality had our mouths watering thanks to world-renowned Michelin-starred chefs and up-and-coming talents.
Like Marcel Ravin, who began the year by earning a second Michelin star for his restaurant the Blue Bay at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, or Mélanie Serre who won a disctinction from Gault & Millau for the second year running. In 2021, she was named "Young Talent" of the year, before earning the title "Grand Chef of Tomorrow" in 2022 for her work at the restaurant Elsa, ensuring she will leave a lasting mark on the history of the Monte-Carlo Beach. The young chef's hugely promising career so far has been rightly recognised, as have her efforts and commitment to sustainability, in line with the policy adopted by Société des Bains de Mer de Monaco (SBM).
Further evidence of that commitment came with the "Special Hotel & Lodge Awards 2022 1st Prize – Green Category" handed to the Monte-Carlo Beach hotel, acknowledging the establishment's sterling efforts in favour of environmental responsibility and sustainable development, as part of a policy of practical measures introduced since 2014.
On a larger scale, the Société des Bains de Mer group continued its commitment to sustainable hotel operations in 2022, by signing its "Go Sustainable" charter for the fourth time, laying out 22 different actions to be taken by 2026.
The Principality has continued to enjoy a fine reputation internationally, and now boasts three hotels in the rankings chosen by the readers of the famous luxury travel magazine, Condé Nast Traveler!
For the sixth successive year, the Métropole Monte-Carlo, a 125 room luxury hotel in the heart of the Principality, was named in the top ten, this year coming in at 7th place in the Readers’ Choice Awards 2022 listing the finest establishments in France (excluding Paris) and Monaco.
SBM also earned plaudits from readers of the international magazine with the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo and the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo being named in the top twenty of the Readers’ Choice 2022!
In addition to its environmental commitments, the Principality also stood out in 2022 with the quality of its hospitality for women, joining the "SHe Travel Club" with the Columbus Monte-Carlo hotel, which was certified gold for safety (important for women travelling alone), comfort, services, and food.
Finally, the destination celebrated two anniversaries for hotels that have forged a fine reputation over the years: the Novotel Monte Carlo in the Monte-Carlo district turned 15, while the Méridien Beach Plaza in the seaside district of Larvotto marked its fiftieth anniversary.
We look forward to seeing what 2023 has in store for you!
